Monobath Parodinal/Salt

First published on 9.8.2012

As a result of the work done before, I arrived also to a mono-bath developer-fixer made with the following simple recipe:

500 ml of salt fixer (300g/liter)
2 ml of Parodinal

Develop with warm watter, on a warm surface, the time will depende very much on the temperature. For about 35ºC it may take 2 hours or so. After the first hour, there will be no further development, you may open the developing tank and control the fixing time, double the clearing time.

I was looking carefully to the negatives of my first experiments with the monobath Parodinal/salt. They exhibit a positive effect when looked at reflection. Salt gives a brownish tone to the silver. I realized that if the negative was more transparent this effect could be more visible. So I decided to just reduce the ammount of Parodinal to 2 ml only in order to underdevelop a little the negative. The result is very promising, it was even possible to scan the negatives with a black background as if they were positives, and with a quality almost similar to film scanning.
